Events Description

Cronin return to Longford town on Culture night for their most ambitious Irish gig to date.

The Midlands band will be joined for one night only by Irish music legend Steve Wickham (The Waterboys) and Seamus Ong

Steve Wickham needs no introduction in music circles with his acclaimed work with The Waterboys plying on such timeless hits as Fishermans Blues and The Whole of the Moon and was a founding member of In Tua Nua and played violin on the classic U2 song “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, as well as recordings by Elvis Costello, the Hothouse Flowers, Sinéad O’Connor, and World Party.

Wickham plays both rock and roll and traditional Irish music and has developed a rock music technique for violin he calls the “fuzz fiddle”.

Setting the stage for Cronin are Any Day Now,  a four piece alternative rock band from Longford. Comprising of Laura O’Gara on vocals, Diarmuid O’Hara on guitar, Greig Berry on bass and Martin Lanigan on drums.

The band have been quietly writing material for the last few years and have now begun performing it live for all to hear, with a debut EP on the way later this year too.

They create an electric fusion of rhythm and melody with a funky urban vibe and uplifting lyrics.
