Near Aughnacliffe, County Longford, enjoy Leebeen Park’s lakeside boardwalk and the scenic Aughnacliffe Waterfall Trail nearby. 

Leebeen Park offers visitors a short looped walk with a boardwalk alongside Lough Leebeen, where you will see some swans and other wildlife. The park is located close to Aughnacliffe village, County Longford.

Aughnacliffe Waterfall Trail

Also in Aughnacliffe is the Aughnacliffe Waterfall Trail, which leads to Pulliness waterfall.

Distance: 1.40km loop and 430m linear trail
The loop route takes you along the river. An interesting feature is a modern water turbine generating power for subtle LED lights on the deck. In the 1930s, a water turbine generated power for the old post office in the village

Two impressive megalithic tombs or dolmens can be found in Aughnacliffe, one of which is the third biggest of its kind in Ireland. Dolmens were erected by the earliest inhabitants of Ireland who settled here between 4000 and 3000BC and continued to inhabit the land up to 2000BC.

The lakes of the Upper Erne and Gowna are only a few minutes' drive away. In the other direction are the many lakes on the Longford-Leitrim border to explore.
