We are always up for a challenge and that’s why we decided to open Jolly Boys, in the middle of Longford, in the middle of a pandemic! We are three local lads that wanted to set up a food business together in Ballymahon. We identified that there was an opening for a casual dining experience in Longford that would suit all ages. We opened for business in October 2020 and have enjoyed phenomenal support right from the get-go, because we’re all about serving great food, great service and a great experience for every customer. That’s our mission, and that’s what makes us and our valued customers happy.
Jolly Boys is already hailed as one of the best places to eat in Longford, with an innovative menu to suit everyone’s taste. Our food is all made fresh, in-house everyday and our menu includes handmade pizza using 48-hour proofed dough, hand cut chips and the finest of local ingredients and produce. We also offer an extensive 100% Irish burger menu along with free-range chicken dishes, starters and luscious desserts. We are constantly adding to our menu with new variations of classic dishes being served up on a daily basis. Our menu also includes gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
We are big advocates of local food producers, and we’re proud to support Irish and use local ingredients wherever possible. All of our beef burgers are sourced from our own cattle farm in Ballymahon as well as sourcing hams and speciality meats from Louis Herterich’s Longford. We are happy to be collaborating with our friends at Wide Street Brewery, Ballymahon for our own draught beer called Jolly Boys Pale Ale. The used grains from the brewing process are then fed back to our cattle creating a closed loop, sustainable system. We are also working with our friends at St. Mel’s, Longford for a selection of quality IPA’s and lagers – all locally produced and all top quality.
In addition we offer a wide range of wines, teas and coffees, all from ethical and sustainably sourced suppliers. Definitely worth raising a glass to!
This is the first chapter of our story. There’s lots more to come from Jolly Boys as we continue to expand our offering to dining enthusiasts in the Midlands. We’re currently working on an outdoor, alfresco dining courtyard. We can’t wait for our customers to be able to enjoy their food and hang out with friends and family in the safe and socially distanced fresh air. While we can promise good food and good vibes, we can’t promise good weather – so we’re planning for every eventuality the Irish summer might throw at us. Our alfresco dining area will have comfortable, weather-proof seating areas where you can enjoy your meal, regardless of the weather. We can’t wait to open our doors on the ultimate dining experience for our customers as the business continues to grow.
