Farrell Clan

The Uí Fhearghail, O’Ferralls or O’Farrells, princes of Annaly, held their chief seat at Longford town or ‘Longphort Uí Fhearghail’, which translates as ‘O’Farrells Stronghold’.

Their ancient history is celebrated up to today with the Farrell Clan Rally, a gathering of Farrells which takes place every four years in Longford, the ancestral Home of the Farrells, with the next rally set to take place in July 2026.

The history of the Uí Fhearghail—the O’Ferralls or O’Farrells—is deeply woven into the landscape of County Longford. Historically, these princes of Annaly established their chief seat at Longford town, known in Irish as Longphort Uí Fhearghail, or “O’Farrells Stronghold.”

This rich heritage remains a focal point for the modern clan, celebrated through the Farrell Clan Rally. This international gathering brings together Farrell descendants every four years in their ancestral home of Longford. The next rally is scheduled to take place in July 2026.
