You’ll learn how to create hand-dipped taper candles\, rolled beeswax candles\, and small moulded candles to take home. \n \nWe’ll also explore more seasonal and “witchy” creations\, crafting intention candles for protection\, love\, calm\, abundance\, and grounding using dried herbs and flowers grown here on the farm. DESCRIPTION:As the harvest is gathered and the nights grow longer\, the veil between worlds grows thin. A group of thieving creatures from the Otherworld have set their sights on the season’s bounty\, which is supposed to last throughout the cold winter until spring.  \n\nChildren are invited to paint their own miniature hero before setting out on a tabletop adventure inspired by Irish folklore\, harvest traditions and the stories of Samhain. The young heroes must search for clues\, gather food\, defend their fields\, set clever traps\, and work together to protect the harvest. \nNo experience with painting or tabletop roleplaying games is necessary. Here\, Kathryn will share the moving story behind the shoes as you trace a few symbolic footsteps along the National Famine Way. \nKathryn will then guide you on through the village\, weaving together the story of Abbeyshrule past and present. Having grown up in the village and personally contributed to the village’s growth and community efforts over the years\, she will share the story of the restored Royal Canal and its vital lifeline in the story and development of the Famine Way. You will also enjoy a visit to the historic Cistercian Abbey ruins\, and hear what makes Abbeyshrule a national and international award-winning Tidy Towns village. \nUpon returning to Cloughan Farm\, we will be joined by Edel McWeeney from the National Famine Way for an insightful presentation on the history\, heritage\, and ongoing development of this historic trail. \nTo round off the afternoon\, everyone will sit down together around the dining room table to enjoy a seasonal 2 course autumn feast\, prepared entirely from scratch in the kitchen by Fiona using much of our kitchen garden bounty.
