The Mall Walking Trail
The Mall Walking Trail is a looped 2.6km walking trail on gravels paths in a beautifully landscaped park on the banks of the river Camlin and situated in the heart of Longford town. Home to Longford’s sports and leisure complex, the Mall is the perfect venue for leisurely walks, picnics and sporting activities.
Surrounded by trees and flower gardens with the well stocked river running through the heart of it, the Mall is a haven of tranquillity, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of town life. The park contains outdoor exercising equipment, a childrens activity play area, basketball courts, outdoor bowls area (boccia balls available to loan at Longford Sports Partnership free of charge) and all weather football pitches.
There is also a wildlife sanctuary in the centre of the park which is home to different species of wild duck. The park affords local residents the opportunity to connect with nature and with their community, while offering visitors to the town a quite space to relax and while a way an hour or two.

Points of Interest: The Mall Park is otherwise known as the Albert Reynolds Peace Park. Albert Reynolds was the Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) from 1992 to 1994 and was first elected to Dáil Eireann as a TD for Longford-Westmeath in 1977.
The sculpture "Timelessness" in the The Mall is by local artist Gary Robinson. This stone circle was created between 1999 and 2000 to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium. Three of the stones are marked, while the fourth has been left for someone to sculpt at the dawn of the next millennium.
Visitors can also enjoy the Longford Town Walking Trail which brings one on a fascinating journey throughout Longford Town and places and buildings of historical interest. Also every week why not partake in Longford Parkrun - free weekly timed 5K runs held every Saturday at 9:30am at The Mall, you can run, walk or jog as you please.
