Public Participation Network

In 2013 the government set up ‘the working group on citizen engagement’ to examine the best way to get greater involvement of citizens in local government. They recommended the establishment of Public Participation Networks in each county.

Following this, the County Longford Public Participation Network (PPN) was established which is the main link through which Longford County Council and other decision-making bodies connect with the local community.

The mission statement of County Longford Public Participation Network is “To Promote the Wellbeing for Present and Future Generations and Inclusive Community Participation in The Economic, Social and Environmental Development of County Longford”

This project was assisted by Longford Local Community Development Committee, Longford Community Resources Clg. and Longford County Council through the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2014-2020 which is part-financed by the EU, "The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas" and the Department of Rural & Community Development. The European Commission.
