About this Route
This is a beautiful journey through historic North Longford. It’s a 55km hilly route – so if cycling a good level of fitness is necessary.
In historic Ballinamuck you can visit the visitors centre and learn all about the 1798 Rebellion and the Battle of Ballinamuck.
Visit Bully’s Acre in Ballinalee, where many of those who took part in the 1798 Rebellion were executed and buried.
Ballinalee is also the birthplace of General Sean MacEoin, who fought with the British here at Clonfin during the War of Independence.
