Escape to the tranquil setting of Castlecor House steeped in heritage, history and mystery.
This magnificent residence is located a stone’s throw from the Royal Canal Blue/Green way. the River Inny and Newcastle Forest. It is set in rolling pasture and private woodland with its very own Norman castle ruins.
The construction spanned 300 years, originally built in the mid 1700’s as a hunting lodge with additions in the 19th & 20th century. The four wings adjoining the original octagonal hunting lodge align with the four cardinal compass points. The majestic interior is relaxed and welcoming with open fires.
This well-appointed accommodation is on a grand scale – bedrooms with 12ft high ceilings range from deluxe superior king to romantic doubles. The single traveller, families and private parties are catered for and all rooms are en-suite.
Observe the vast night sky before a quiet sleep in 500 thread count bedding. Awake to a cacophony of birdsong & refresh in a rain shower before enjoying an elegant breakfast based on local produce. Packed lunch and afternoon tea are available on request.
A stay in Castlecor is an exploration of Ireland’s Ancient East and there is lots to do in the Hidden Heartlands of Ireland.
