Abbeyview House is a period property which was built in the mid 1800’s and was later used as a Garda Barracks but is now a family home on a small working farm of cattle ,sheep, horses and hens . It has been restored to a high level of comfort and contains all modern conveniences but has retained its many original features.
There are many things to do within walking distance of Abbeyview House, such as fishing in the Inny river which boasts Trout, Pike, Bream, Roach and Tench to name but a few. Take in the scenery along the different walkways, some are wheelchair and buggy friendly, such as the Royal Canal Way, Bog Walk and the River Inny Walk.
You can learn to fly at Abbeyshrule Airfield or maybe just sit back and watch the professionals do their aerobatics display. You can canoe on either the Royal Canal or the River Inny or you can take in some bird watching in some of the local bog land or the three bird sanctuaries. You can also take in some of the festivals held in the village during the year such as the Goldsmith Literary Summer School in June or Irish-Argentinian Association Asado. While at Abbeyview House we can also help you on your way to tracing your family genealogy. Other local attractions and areas of interest would be Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre, Hill of Uisneach, Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre, Tullynally Castle and Gardens, Lough Ree, Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre, and New Castle Forest to name but a few.
We are the closest bed and Breakfast to the new Center Parks Longford Forest holiday village and also the beautiful Newcastle Forest. We are more than happy to help with any query and if we cannot help we will do our best to send you in the right direction. https://www.facebook.com/AbbeyviewHouse
